Like central systems, ductless air systems (also known as "mini split" or "split air" systems) have two main components: an outdoor compressor/condenser, and an indoor air-handling unit. A conduit, which houses the power cable, refrigerant tubing, suction tubing, and a condensate drain, links the outdoor and indoor units.
Benefits:
- The unit provides cooling to the room so you are not dependent on cooling a whole house or floor of a house.
- The indoor unit is hung on a wall instead of installed in a window.
- No duct work is required in your wall.
- It is easy to install and is very quiet.
