Haier compact refrigerators are not self-defrosting (frost free) and may require occasional defrosting depending on use. Defrost whenever frost on the wall of the freezer compartment becomes 1/8" thick. Do not use metal instruments to clear ice or frost from the unit.
To defrost the refrigerator:
-
Remove all items from inside your compact refrigerator, including any food from the freezer compartment. Leave the drip tray in place.
-
Unplug the compact refrigerator.
-
Lay a thick towel in the interior bottom. Ensure the towel extends across the front exterior of the appliance to catch any dripping water.
-
If possible, move the unit to an area where the floors won't be damaged by dripping water.
-
Allow the unit to defrost overnight with the doors open.
-
Wipe the moisture off all surfaces of the compact refrigerator in the morning.
-
Remove any stains and odors inside the refrigerator, using warm, soapy water.
-
Clean all shelves, trays, and racks within the unit.
-
Rinse the compact refrigerator of any cleaning agent using a damp rag.
-
Allow it to dry completely.
-
Plug in the unit and return all your drinks and snacks to the appliance once the temperature has cooled inside.
-
Adjust the temperature setting to an appropriate level for your food.
